Wildlife Sanctuary Assistant

We are looking for a Wildlife Sanctuary Assistant to join our team at Tilgate Nature Centre in West Sussex. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional animal care and ensuring the well-being of our fascinating animals.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in all aspects of animal husbandry, including cleaning, feeding, record keeping, enclosure maintenance, security, and carrying out basic veterinary procedures.
* Organise and carry out the maintenance, improvement, and furnishing of enclosures to ensure exhibits are well presented at all times.
* Responsible for Nature Centre maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, strimming, weeding, leaf clearance, sweeping, emptying bins, litter picking, cleaning furniture, checking and cleaning toilets and wash hand basins, and snow clearance and gritting.
* Provide support and occasional cover in the retail shop and resolve complaints efficiently.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in animal care and husbandry, with a strong understanding of animal behavior and welfare.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Ability to work in a safe manner according to risk assessments and understand the Council's policy and procedures for health and safety, Equalities Statement, and Environmental Policy.
Salary: £20,000 - £24,000 per annum, depending on experience.
