Job Summary:

The Sous Chef will play a key role in the success of our kitchen operations at The Weavers Pub, a popular dining destination within Fairfield College. As a member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in the preparation and presentation of high-quality food to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation to ensure consistency and excellence in our dishes.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of kitchen staff, including students and trainees, to ensure efficient and effective kitchen operations.
  • Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and safety, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Support the Head Chef in managing kitchen inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling costs.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and implement new menu ideas and promotions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer feedback and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work effectively under pressure, managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and open communication.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a similar environment.
  • Strong culinary skills, with a focus on menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene and safety.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays.
