About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and efficient anaesthetic services for elective and emergency care
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and theatre teams to ensure smooth running of theatre lists
  • Support the Consultant-delivered Perioperative Medicine Service and high-risk anaesthetic clinics
  • Provide on-call rota cover for the High Dependency Unit and emergency theatre at LGH
  • Develop and implement new ways of working and providing anaesthetic care for patients in peripheral hospitals and East Midlands Planned Care Centre (EMPCC)
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and contribute to departmental quality improvement activity
  • Supervise and train junior medical staff, including appraisal and assessment of clinical competencies
Requirements
  • Full GMC registration and MB;BS or equivalent qualification
  • Fully accredited for Higher Specialist Training or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification and current BLS Certification or equivalent
  • Excellent clinical skills and experience in anaesthesia, with ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and supervise juniors
