Job Summary

NHS Highland is seeking a highly skilled Medical Officer to join our team in Argyll and Bute. As a key member of our Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service, you will work closely with local GPs to enhance shared care provision and provide a comprehensive medical recovery service for individuals with substance use problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective strategies to reduce drug harms and drug-related deaths in Argyll and Bute
  • Work in partnership with local GPs to enhance shared care provision and provide a route to step up care for those with complex needs
  • Provide a comprehensive medical recovery service for individuals with substance use problems, including a clinical caseload and support from other team members
  • Collaborate with the core service to respond to the needs of the population and implement MAT standards
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including GPs and other healthcare professionals

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills and a commitment to partnership working
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and individually
  • GMC registration with License to Practice
  • GP background or other background with a genuine interest in the field of substance use
  • Previous relevant experience is desirable
