Job DescriptionThe Site Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance of plant equipment through all stages of the production process. This includes start-up and shut-down, and provision of an engineering service to maintain company assets. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maximizing plant availability, driving efficiencies, and profitability at all times in line with site targets.
Key Responsibilities- Managing external contractors to ensure sign-off of completed works against an agreed standard, compliance with applicable internal systems, review of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Issue Permit to Work.
- Providing information regarding fault-finding, sharing knowledge with the Site Manager and Production Supervisors as applicable.
- Ensuring all new installations or modifications to existing machinery are commissioned and risk-assessed before use.
- Managing tasks to comply with UK engineering requirements and internal system requirements (LOLER, PUWER, Legionella, Electricity at Work, Pressure System Regs, Permit to Work, Hot Work etc.).
- Ensuring engineering stores are maintained, ordered, and tidy.
- Actively promoting safety awareness and cost and quality awareness.
- A Time-served multi-skilled engineer with an electrical bias or an engineering qualification such as OND, ONC, or BTECH.
- Several years of experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally gained within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food, chemical, or pharmaceutical sector.
- A wide breadth of engineering knowledge.
- Fault-finding skills, including the ability to interrogate PLC's.
- A good working knowledge of MS Office.
- Experience of managing small projects and external contractors.
- A competitive industry-benchmarked salary (£45,000-£60,000 per annum).
