Interventional Radiology Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Interventional Imaging Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care to patients and their relatives within the radiology department. The successful candidate will utilize their clinical expertise and enhanced skills to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient management of the department.
Main Responsibilities- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to department and hospital policies and professional standards.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation using hospital-approved documentation, in line with NMC and hospital guidelines.
- Participate in staff appraisal, development, and in-service training activities.
- Meet revalidation requirements and identify own learning needs to maintain professional development.
- Act as a scrub practitioner for various interventional procedures under fluoroscopic control.
- Assist consultant radiologists with biopsies, FNAs, drainages, and other interventional procedures under imaging control.
- Provide pre- and post-procedural care for imaging day cases, including close observations in line with national guidance and departmental procedure.
- Offer health promotion advice to patients and liaise with ward nursing and medical staff regarding pre- and post-procedural care.
- Work collaboratively with radiology consultants, radiographers, and RDAs within the department.
- Provide emotional support to patients by displaying a caring and empathetic attitude.
- Initiate and participate in departmental developments to improve patient care.
- Administer i.v and oral drugs used in interventional radiology and undertake relevant training to comply with national and hospital guidelines.
- Make safe decisions relating to patient needs and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain patient records and ensure relevant information is documented in medical and nursing notes.
- Collaborate with department staff to ensure smooth clinic flows and anticipate issues to resolve before escalating to line management.
- Contribute to the safety of the department by participating in risk registers, clinical audit, and quality issues, including incident management.
- Registered Nurse
- Educated to first degree level or equivalent
- Excellent clinical skills
- Professional commitment and self-awareness
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in various clinical areas
