Your primary responsibility will be to protect employees, property, and assets, adhering to strict Assignment Instructions and site-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prevent unauthorized access, monitor alarms, and conduct security patrols to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Provide traffic control, manage keys, and handle locking/unlocking duties to maintain site access and security.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, issue visitor passes, and manage lost property to ensure efficient site operations.
- Offer support and information to staff, visitors, and contractors, providing exceptional customer service and a positive experience.
- Ensure walkways are clear, report hazards, and manage emergencies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Investigate fire alarm activations and monitor First Aid equipment to ensure prompt response and effective emergency procedures.
- Report potential risks of theft, damage, and vandalism to prevent security breaches and maintain site integrity.
- Switch off unnecessary lights and close windows during patrols to conserve energy and maintain site security.
- Operate security equipment and conduct 'stop and search' procedures to maintain site security and prevent unauthorized access.
- Investigate and report incidents and suspicious activities to ensure prompt response and effective security measures.
- Provide exceptional service and assist with staff and visitor issues to maintain a positive and secure working environment.
- Maintain professional presentation and answer calls promptly to ensure effective communication and site security.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Must hold a valid SIA Licence to ensure compliance with security regulations.
- A full UK driving licence and own transport are essential for site visits and emergency responses.
- Must be over 18 years old and have the right to work in the UK, with a five-year checkable employment history or documentary evidence of any period of unemployment, self-employment, or full and part-time education.
- No current criminal convictions are acceptable, and a strong commitment to maintaining a clean record is expected.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus are essential for providing exceptional service and maintaining a positive working environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential for maintaining site security and responding to emergency situations.
- Willingness and ability to work shifts covering days, nights, and weekends, with flexibility to cover shifts at short notice.
- Sensitivity towards and understanding of the requirements of people with disabilities or special needs, with a commitment to providing inclusive and accessible services.
- Prior experience as a Security Officer in the security industry is desirable, with a strong understanding of security protocols and procedures.
- A First Aid qualification would be advantageous in providing effective emergency response and support.
