Job Title: Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced oncology nurse to join our team as a Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your managerial skills and gain insight into the ward manager role.

Job Summary:

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. As a Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse, you will assist the Ward Manager in providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in a supportive environment.

Main Duties:
  • Assist the Ward Manager in providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward.
  • Develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide person-centered, evidence-based nursing care.
  • Lead in a specific area of ward practice, making recommendations, coordinating projects, and developing practice guidelines and policies.
  • Deputise for the Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence, demonstrating a sound problem-solving approach to clinical and management issues.
  • Regularly act as shift coordinator, participating in the allocation of resources, ensuring effective patient care and safety on the ward.
Person Specification:

We are looking for a nurse who:

  • Has a strong commitment to patient-centered care and is able to demonstrate this in their practice.
  • Has a minimum of 3 years' acute care registered nurse experience.
  • Has evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC revalidation.
  • Has a strong understanding of professional and current issues related to area of practice.
