Prison Services Clinical Pharmacist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, providing clinical pharmacy services to patients in our prisons. As a Clinical Pharmacist in Prisons, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical pharmacy services, including medication management, clinical screening, and final accuracy checks.
Key Responsibilities- Organise and plan the pharmacy clinical service provision to allocated prisons, ensuring timely delivery of services.
- Provide clinical services to patients in allocated prisons, including medication reviews, MURs, and clinics for patients to receive advice and support on their prescribed medicines.
- Work closely with pharmacy technicians and assistants to ensure smooth operation of the pharmacy service.
- Implement the prison formulary, in collaboration with primary care colleagues, to ensure safe and effective prescribing practices.
- Generate monthly reports on drug expenditure for allocated prisons and advise prescribers on areas for improvement and efficiencies.
- Participate in clinical governance/medicines management committees to monitor prescribing trends and provide advice to healthcare staff.
- Train nursing staff in the use of medicines and PGDs to ensure safe and secure prescribing and handling of medicines.

Requirements- Masters Degree of Pharmacy or equivalent.
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of GB (GPhC).
- Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent (or working towards).
- Previous prison/hospital/community pharmacy experience in the UK.
- Experience of providing clinical pharmacy services.
- At least 2 years experience post registration of providing clinical services within prisons or hospitals.
