About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, providing clinical pharmacy services to patients in our prisons. As a Clinical Pharmacist in Prisons, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, working closely with healthcare teams to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services to patients in our prisons, including medication reviews, MURs, and clinical screening.
  • Work closely with healthcare teams to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines, including monitoring prescribing trends and providing advice to healthcare staff.
  • Implement the prison formulary, in collaboration with primary care colleagues, and generate monthly reports on drug expenditure.
  • Manage the day-to-day work of pharmacy technicians and support them clinically when on site.
  • Participate in the on-call rota to provide support and advice to primary care teams when the pharmacy is closed.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Clinical Pharmacist with a Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of GB (GPhC), and a Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent. You should have previous experience in prison or hospital pharmacy, providing clinical services, and at least 2 years of experience post-registration in providing clinical services within prisons or hospitals. You should also have sound basic clinical skills and recent clinical pharmacy practice in a hospital or prison setting.
