About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Adult Community Mental Health Services team, you will provide clinical leadership and expertise to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical expertise and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and treatment for patients with complex psychiatric conditions
  • Participate in service and business planning activities for the locality and mental health service
  • Manage and appraise junior medical staff, providing professional supervision and support
  • Ensure that junior medical staff operate within the parameters of the New Deal and Working Time Directive

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Section 12 approval (or eligibility for S12 approval)
  • Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in general adult psychiatry
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
