Job Summary:

Peterborough City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Clinical Psychologist to lead its new Clinical Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert psychological care to children and their families, working closely with social care professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions for children and families, using a range of theoretical models and therapeutic approaches.
  • Work in partnership with other disciplines, including social workers, teachers, and healthcare professionals, to develop and implement effective care plans.
  • Manage and maintain a caseload of complex cases, exercising autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, formulation, intervention, and discharge.
  • Develop and maintain links with statutory and non-statutory agencies, including primary care providers, to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Contribute to the development of the Clinical Service, including the design and delivery of training programs and the development of policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Experience of working with children and families in a clinical or social care setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to continuous professional development.
