Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust Digital Services team as an IT Service Desk Technician on a temporary contract.

The successful candidate will be the face of Digital Services and will be the first point of contact for all end users to ensure all IT service users receive an efficient and responsive and professional service.

You will provide a customer-centric service with the aim of resolving incidents and service requests at the first point of contact and embedded following ITIL processes.

This role will include being part of an out-of-hours IT Service Desk on-call rota and therefore a clean driver's license will be required and subject to check at interview stage.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Experience working in a busy IT Service Desk environment
  • Experience in problem-solving in a mixed computing environment
  • Experience of working in a service delivery function
  • Influencing the application of IT to working practices
  • Experience of IT systems administration
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to diplomatically deal with users of a mixed IT ability
  • Flexible attitude to the prioritization of workload (to support the dynamic nature of the service)
  • Multi-tasking ability required to deal with multiple incidents awaiting resolution

Person Specification

  • Proven experience in problem-solving and diagnostics
  • Proven IT Service Desk experience
  • Experience of working in a service delivery function
  • Experience of IT systems administration

Desirable

  • NHS experience
  • Understanding of ITIL working practices
  • Experience of testing newly developed software and reporting problems/issues
  • Experience of Customer Relation Management

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Broad knowledge of IT
  • Proven knowledge of supporting OS Win 7 and Win10
  • Proven knowledge of supporting iOS devices

Qualifications

  • Education to GCSE level

Desirable

  • ITIL qualification
  • Relevant IT specialist course
