Building Maintenance and Carpentry Professional

Job Summary
The Royal Bournemouth Hospital Estates Department provides comprehensive maintenance, repair, and installation services for buildings, grounds, engineering services, and associated equipment within the Trust.
We seek a skilled building maintenance carpenter to join our team, requiring general carpentry experience, including fire door maintenance. The ideal candidate will have completed a recognized carpentry apprenticeship and possess extensive experience in general building maintenance or NHS properties, holding a BTEC HNC level or City and Guilds qualification, along with relevant post-apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.
A current UK manual driving license is mandatory.
The role is Monday to Friday, with opportunities for overtime and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the role in detail by reading the full job description and person specification documents attached to this advert.
- Fulfill a requirement to interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to the original trade, without supervision.
- Ability to set out new work or set up new production appropriate to the original trade using relevant instruments and machinery, without supervision.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Apprenticeship in a relevant core trade with a minimum of a City and Guilds with advanced craft certificate or BTEC, ONC in a relevant building maintenance trade.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in general building maintenance, outside core trades of Painting/Decorating, carpentry, and joinery.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a complex building maintenance environment.
- Basic electrical safety training to be able to fulfill duties without support from other trades.
