Estates Building Maintenance Worker/Carpenter

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Carpenter to join our team at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. As a key member of our estates department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing buildings, grounds, and engineering services across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general carpentry and joinery tasks, including maintenance of fire doors
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental objectives
- Develop and maintain a good understanding of the relationship between other craftsmen's work and your own
- Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
- Apprenticeship in a relevant core trade, with a minimum of a City and Guilds with advanced craft certificate or BTEC, ONC in a relevant building maintenance trade
- Minimum 3 years' experience in general building maintenance, outside of core trades such as painting and decorating, carpentry, and joinery
- Good understanding of the relationship between other craftsmen's work and your own
- Experience of maintenance carpentry and building in a range of settings
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in a complex building maintenance environment
- Basic electrical safety training to be able to fulfill duties without support from other trades
- Understanding of the working of mechanical and/or electrical and/or plumbing and/or gas systems in NHS buildings
- Experience working in a healthcare environment
