About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Carpenter to join our team at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. As a key member of our estates department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing buildings, grounds, and engineering services across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general carpentry and joinery tasks, including maintenance of fire doors
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental objectives
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the relationship between other craftsmen's work and your own
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Apprenticeship in a relevant core trade, with a minimum of a City and Guilds with advanced craft certificate or BTEC, ONC in a relevant building maintenance trade
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in general building maintenance, outside of core trades such as painting and decorating, carpentry, and joinery
  • Good understanding of the relationship between other craftsmen's work and your own
  • Experience of maintenance carpentry and building in a range of settings

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in a complex building maintenance environment
  • Basic electrical safety training to be able to fulfill duties without support from other trades
  • Understanding of the working of mechanical and/or electrical and/or plumbing and/or gas systems in NHS buildings
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
