SEN Science Teacher Opportunity

A forward-thinking secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking an experienced SEN Science Teacher to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing engaging and accessible science lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs (SEN).

About the Role

  • Plan and deliver science lessons that cater to the unique needs of SEN students, ensuring all learners are engaged and able to access the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the SEN team to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement strategies that support students' academic progress in science.
  • Adapt teaching techniques and resources to accommodate various learning styles and abilities, using creative approaches to make science accessible and enjoyable for all students.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as necessary, ensuring all SEN students achieve their learning objectives.
  • Work closely with other subject teachers, SEN staff, parents, and external specialists to create a holistic support system for SEN students within the school.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEN teaching strategies and contribute to the wider school community by sharing best practices and attending relevant professional development sessions.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a focus or specialization in Science.
  • Experience teaching science to secondary school students with a proven track record of working with students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies and the ability to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • A passion for inclusive education and the ability to inspire and motivate SEN students to achieve their best.
  • A clear DBS check and the legal right to work within the UK.
