Design Manager Job Description

Morgan King is seeking a skilled Design Manager to oversee the design process and ensure timely delivery of design and procurement information packages that meet project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of design proposals to align with customer specifications.
  • Support the implementation of TD digital protocols and client Building Information Modelling (BIM) deliverables.
  • Monitor and ensure responsibilities for the project are clearly allocated as per the design responsibilities matrix.
  • Assist in the effective management of the Design Team, including integrating Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) components and coordinating third-party or novated design teams.
  • Facilitate forums and processes that engage commercial and operational teams throughout the design stages.
  • Conduct initial reviews and quality assurance checks on received designs to ensure high standards in design quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the record approval processes and ensure all design documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and delivered within required timeframes.
  • Assist in the management and coordination of the design deliverables programme.
  • Help facilitate and manage key design-related meetings, including design review sessions, project updates, and coordination discussions.
  • Be aware of and assist in managing sustainability deliverables for the project.
  • Liaise with project document control teams and support the management of project documentation.

Requirements:

  • Good understanding of construction principles and experience working within project teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective working relationships with partners, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CAD and other relevant design software.
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow in the role with a proactive approach to developing knowledge and skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple interfaces and maintain calm under pressure.
  • Structured approach to work with effective time management to meet deadlines and support project objectives.
