At Labcorp, we are seeking to appoint a Principal Biodegradation Scientist within our Environmental Sciences team.

This position offers flexibility with hybrid or remote working options, requiring occasional travel as business needs dictate.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing strong scientific leadership, ensuring that we deliver effective solutions to both internal and external clients.

Collaborate with Operational Leaders to guarantee that Biodegradation studies are conducted and reported to the highest scientific standards, adhering to GLP, A(SP)A, and HSE regulations, while meeting agreed timelines.

You will serve as the primary liaison between Biodegradation Services, Regulatory Affairs, Sales, and Marketing.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping abreast of the competitive landscape for Biodegradation services, including commercial and service expectations.
  • Leading the identification and implementation of scientific advancements necessary to keep our Biodegradation services at the industry's forefront.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of technical, scientific, and regulatory developments related to Biodegradation services through literature reviews and participation in expert meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborating with Sales and Marketing to uphold and enhance the Biodegradation reputation among clients.
  • Utilizing your expertise to network with other Labcorp teams, providing training and advice to resolve technical challenges and support the delivery of high-quality scientific products.
  • Establishing and nurturing effective working relationships with existing and prospective external clients to promote and develop Labcorp's Biodegradation expertise and services.
  • Assisting Sales in on-site and off-site meetings to address customer needs and expand the Biodegradation client base.
  • Contributing to the strong scientific profile of the Biodegradation business through participation in conferences and events.
  • Enhancing Labcorp's scientific reputation by publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific gatherings.
  • Providing sound scientific judgment on study data interpretation and its implications for reporting or future studies.
  • Developing proposals for unique studies and work programs, leading scientific reviews and designs while ensuring accurate pricing and timely project delivery with scientific integrity and quality.
  • Ensuring the highest quality science is provided to our clients.
  • Reviewing study data and assisting scientific staff in interpreting and communicating results to our clients.
  • Advocating for best practices and changes to enhance client offerings.

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum of a BSc in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in Biodegradation with in-depth scientific and regulatory knowledge.
  • Strong communication, networking, and negotiation abilities.
  • Analytical and logical reasoning skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Proven project management and customer relationship skills.
