At Labcorp, we are seeking to appoint a Principal Biodegradation Scientist within our Environmental Sciences team.

This position offers flexibility with hybrid or remote work options, requiring occasional travel as business needs dictate.

In this dynamic and client-facing position, you will hold the key responsibility for providing robust scientific leadership to deliver innovative solutions for both internal and external clients.

Collaborate with Operational Leaders to ensure that Biodegradation studies are conducted and reported to the highest scientific standards, adhering to GLP, A(SP)A, and HSE regulations, while meeting agreed timelines.

You will serve as the primary liaison between Biodegradation Services, Regulatory Affairs, Sales, and Marketing.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Staying informed about the competitive landscape for Biodegradation services, including commercial and service expectations.
  • Leading the identification and implementation of scientific advancements necessary to keep the Company's Biodegradation services at the forefront of the industry.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of technical, scientific, and regulatory developments related to Biodegradation services through literature reviews and participation in expert meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborating with Sales and Marketing to uphold and enhance the Biodegradation reputation among clients.
  • Utilizing your expertise to network with other teams within Labcorp, providing training and guidance to resolve technical challenges and support the delivery of high-quality scientific products.
  • Establishing and nurturing effective working relationships with existing and prospective external clients to promote and expand Labcorp's Biodegradation expertise and services.
  • Supporting Sales during on-site and off-site meetings to address customer needs and expand the Biodegradation client base.
  • Ensuring that the Biodegradation business maintains a strong scientific profile both externally and internally, including your own participation in Biodegradation conferences and events.
  • Enhancing Labcorp's scientific reputation by publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific gatherings.
  • Providing sound scientific judgment on the interpretation of study data and its implications for reporting or subsequent studies.
  • Developing proposals for unique studies and work programs, leading the scientific review and design while ensuring accurate and timely pricing, and overseeing project delivery with scientific integrity and quality.
  • Ensuring that clients receive the highest quality scientific solutions.
  • Reviewing study data and assisting scientific staff in interpreting and communicating results to clients.
  • Advocating for best practices and improvements to enhance client offerings.

Required skills and experience:

  • A minimum of a BSc in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in Biodegradation, with in-depth scientific and regulatory knowledge.
  • Strong communication, networking, and negotiation skills.
  • Objective and logical analytical reasoning abilities.
  • Good commercial and business acumen.
  • Proven project management and client liaison capabilities.
