At Labcorp, we are seeking to appoint a Principal Biodegradation Scientist within our Environmental Sciences division.

This position offers flexibility with hybrid or remote working options, requiring occasional travel as business needs dictate.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing robust scientific leadership and ensuring the delivery of innovative solutions to both internal and external clients.

Collaborate with Operational Leaders to guarantee that Biodegradation studies are conducted and reported to the highest scientific standards, adhering to GLP, A(SP)A, and HSE regulations, while meeting established timelines.

You will serve as the primary liaison between Biodegradation Services, Regulatory Affairs, Sales, and Marketing.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Staying informed about the competitive landscape for Biodegradation services, including commercial and service expectations.
  • Leading the identification and implementation of scientific advancements necessary to keep Labcorp's Biodegradation services at the forefront of the industry.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of technical, scientific, and regulatory developments pertinent to Biodegradation services through literature reviews and participation in expert meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborating with Sales and Marketing to uphold and enhance the Biodegradation reputation among clients.
  • Utilizing your expertise to network with other teams within Labcorp, providing training and guidance to address technical challenges and support the delivery of high-quality scientific products.
  • Establishing and nurturing effective working relationships with existing and prospective external clients to promote and expand Labcorp's Biodegradation expertise and services.
  • Supporting Sales during on-site and off-site meetings to address customer needs and foster the growth of the Biodegradation client base.
  • Contributing to the strong scientific profile of the Biodegradation business through active participation in conferences and events.
  • Enhancing Labcorp's scientific reputation by publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific gatherings.
  • Providing sound scientific judgment on the interpretation of study data and its implications for reporting or subsequent studies.
  • Developing proposals for specialized or unique studies and work programs, leading the scientific review and design while ensuring accurate and timely pricing. Overseeing project delivery to ensure scientific integrity, quality, and timeliness.
  • Ensuring that the highest scientific standards are maintained for our clients.
  • Reviewing study data and assisting scientific staff in interpreting and communicating results to clients.
  • Advocating for best practices and changes to enhance the product offering for clients.

Required skills and experience:

  • A minimum of a BSc in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in Biodegradation, with a deep understanding of scientific and regulatory aspects.
  • Strong communication, networking, and negotiation abilities.
  • Analytical and logical reasoning skills.
  • Good commercial acumen and business awareness.
  • Proven project management and client liaison capabilities.
