Job Title: Healthcare Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Healthcare Research Scientist to join our team at the Transformation Unit.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of quality assurance programs in the pharmacy aseptic services laboratory.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the performance of technical duties associated with testing programs relating to pharmacy aseptic services, wholesale dealing, and trust nuclear medicine services.
  • Ensure compliance with the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) regulations.
  • Assist the Pharmacy QA Manager in the coordination of laboratory workload and the review and sign-off of laboratory documentation.
  • Write and approve procedures, perform final release of specials licensed batches, and lead on training of staff.
  • Participate in the pharmaceutical microbiological, air quality, and equipment testing, and carry out sterility tests.
  • Participate with other staff in the maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and records, and temperature mapping and temperature distribution checks.
  • Manage risk management issues within the section, such as Health and Safety, COSHH, and Infection Control.
  • Manage departmental documentation and make decisions involving the day-to-day running of the service and delivery of staff training.
Requirements
  • NVQ3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or Equivalent.
  • Science Degree.
Experience
  • Appraisal and supervisory experience.
  • Microbiological expertise to degree or equivalent level through experience and training.
  • Release of special licensed batches.
Skills
  • Evidence of work planning.
  • Evidence that demonstrates reasoning and judgement and able to manage difficult and ambiguous problems.
  • Able to cope with a number of complex issues at any one time.
  • Effective computer / IT knowledge and skills.
  • Effective communication to ensure delivery of training and more complex information using systematic reporting processes to pharmacy staff using verbal and written skills.
