Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team at Gordon Murray Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading structural analysis activities and providing technical expertise to support the design and development of our luxury vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Structural Analysis and Design: Conduct structural analysis and design activities to ensure the integrity and safety of our vehicles. This includes assessing the strength, stiffness, fatigue, and crash performance of parts, assemblies, and full vehicles.
  • Simulation and Analysis: Utilize simulation tools, including Altair's Hyperworks suite, to analyze and optimize structural performance. Develop and maintain simulation models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Load Case Definition and Testing: Define load cases for the entire vehicle and subsystems, and collaborate with the vehicle dynamics group to ensure accurate and reliable results. Develop and execute testing plans to validate structural performance.
  • Attributes Definition and Target Setting: Define critical attributes of the whole vehicle and set high-level and detailed targets. Collaborate with the homologation group to determine certification requirements and identify structurally integral obligations that drive the project workflow across engineering groups.
  • CAE Task Management: Manage Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tasks by maintaining project documentation, providing regular updates to stakeholders, and preparing comprehensive reports on CAE status and outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and testing groups, to ensure accurate and reliable results. Provide technical expertise and guidance to support the design and development of our luxury vehicles.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering (or similar)
  • Experience: Experience in structural analysis (stress, stiffness, fatigue, optimization) in a high-performance automotive/motorsport/aerospace environment
  • Skills: Proficiency in simulation tools, including Altair's Hyperworks suite, and practical knowledge of nCode Design Life software. Experience with analyzing test data and correlating to CAE results, and experience with FEA material characterization for metallic and composite materials.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with a scripting/programming language, e.g. Python or software such as Matlab.
