Job Title: Senior Planning Policy Officer/Planning Policy Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Policy Officer/Planning Policy Officer to join our team at Vox Network Consultants. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing discrete research and policy development, drafting and projects, including the management of consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation of evidence base research to support the development of planning policy and contribute to making data and analyses widely accessible and approachably presented.
  • Network, consult, and liaise with other Council staff and organizations to seek appropriate alignment of Planning Policy with other Council policies.
  • Monitor the emergence of new policy and programme initiatives by central Government and the Mayor for London, advise on these, and ensure timely and effective representations are made on the Council's behalf.
  • Be aware of and actively seek within the team the observance of local and statutory procedures and good administrative practice in relation to the preparation and implementation of planning policy.
  • Demonstrate initiative in organizing workload and establishing priorities for action, and carry out the necessary work to the required quality within given deadlines in a busy working environment.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of current Town and Country planning, practice, procedures, and legislation, in one or more areas; within planning, enforcement, policy, or development management.
  • Experience of delivery of major policy documents to agreed timetables and in line with agreed standards.
  • Ability to negotiate with stakeholders to achieve improvements to the quality and outcome of planning policies and secure stakeholder support.
  • Ability to present information, verbally and in writing, on planning policy matters in a manner that clearly demonstrates a thorough, structured, logical, and orderly approach.

Contract Details:

Initial 6-month contract with the opportunity to extend. Pay negotiable depending on experience. PAYE via Umbrella. Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (Hybrid).
