Barings' Client Portfolio Managers form close partnerships and coordinate efforts with investment teams, sales, and other stakeholders within the organization, serving as subject matter experts focused on business development, client servicing, and product development for certain investment strategies.

The successful candidate will be a senior member of our Private Credit Client Portfolio Management team in Europe, supporting all Barings' private credit strategies (global private finance, capital solutions, infra debt, portfolio finance, structured finance, and private placements) with a primary focus on global private finance/direct lending.

This position will report to the Head of Client Portfolio Management – Public Fixed Income & Private Credit and be located in London.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary business development liaison in Europe for Barings' Global Private Finance strategies and private credit strategies more broadly
  • Communicate investment strategies internally and externally to grow assets under management
  • Develop a close partnership with investment teams to deepen knowledge and expertise and be effective as a portfolio manager proxy in interactions with sales colleagues and clients
  • Attend investment team meetings
  • Participate actively in meetings with current and prospective clients
  • Respond promptly to client and prospect requests
  • Determine and negotiate key terms for relevant funds/investment vehicles managed by Barings
  • Oversee creation of marketing materials including fact sheets and pitch books for fund offerings
  • Review reporting materials for existing clients
  • Provide strategy-specific responses to RFPs and DDQs
  • Lead and develop junior members of the Client Portfolio Management team
  • Identify and participate in new product development and positioning initiatives for private credit
  • Collaborate on Thought Leadership materials with investment teams and Barings Marketing staff

Salary Range: Approximately £90,000 - £140,000 per annum

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent
  • Significant relevant experience preferably in investment management, investment specialist/product strategist/client portfolio manager roles with some private credit experience
  • Passion for financial markets, particularly fixed income, with high technical acumen/ability
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to convey market dynamics, portfolio strategy, and risk factors
  • Aptitude for public speaking in various settings and audience sizes
  • Entrepreneurial drive and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to travel
