Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Archive Collections Specialist to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in cataloguing archives to professional standards and working in a library or similar service environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrange, describe, and review archives to identify and manage personal and special category information.
  • Develop and implement cataloguing standards and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Work with stakeholders, including professional colleagues, collection donors, and researchers, to support inquiries and provide expert advice.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Archive Management System, ArchivesSpace.
  • Support the publication of catalogues on the online discovery platform for archives in Cambridge, ArchiveSearch.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in cataloguing archives to professional standards.
  • Proficient knowledge of archival cataloguing standards, research, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Qualification to undergraduate degree level in a relevant subject.
  • Desirable: experience using an archive management system, cataloguing modern science archives, working with born-digital archives, and cataloguing library materials.

The successful candidate will be working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, supporting the preservation and accessibility of digital and physical archives. The role will require strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
