Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the hospital's archival collections, focusing on their long-term preservation. Responsibilities include acquisitions, temporary loans, disposals, cataloguing, and research.
  • Conduct in-depth research on the hospital's history to provide valuable insights for both internal stakeholders and the public.
  • Respond to public inquiries and manage acquisition offers with professionalism.
  • Facilitate public engagement initiatives that highlight the history of Royal Papworth, including displays, digital content, and community talks.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to support hospital events and initiatives.
  • Work alongside the Royal Papworth Charity team to identify and pursue funding opportunities for future heritage projects.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in an archive, museum, or heritage setting, whether paid or voluntary.
  • Familiarity with collections management systems and conservation practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of medical history and collections.
  • Experience in public engagement and project leadership.
