Specialist Physiotherapist - Neurosurgery

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Physiotherapist to join our Neurosurgical therapy team at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a passion for assessing and treating complex neurological patients, with a focus on spines, critical care, oncology, and brain injuries.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience working at Band 5 or Band 6 level or above within acute or community settings relevant to Neurosurgery. They will also have undertaken significant postgraduate training in the area of neurosurgery specialty and have experience working in a complex MDT in an acute inpatient setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and treating a wide variety of patients in a complex Neurosurgical clinical setting, including those with brain tumours and spinal surgery. They will also be expected to manage patients with tracheostomies and have evidence of effective communication skills with patients with altered cognition and barriers to communication.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assessing and treating complex neurological patients in a Neurosurgical clinical setting
  • Managing patients with brain tumours and spinal surgery
  • Working in a complex MDT in an acute inpatient setting
  • Developing and implementing effective communication strategies for patients with altered cognition and barriers to communication
  • Providing respiratory care for patients with tracheostomies

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered in Physiotherapy
  • Masters level studying in area of speciality (complete or Modules)
  • Member of the CSP
