Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Autonomous Learning at the Edge

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at the University of South Hampton, working on the EPSRC-funded project Edgy Organism. This exciting project aims to develop novel end-to-end neuromorphic design approaches and efficient hardware architectures based on spiking neural networks (SNNs) for the defence and security sector.

The successful candidate will be part of a cross-disciplinary team of researchers from top UK universities, working together to achieve the project's ambitious objectives. The role involves designing and testing detection and estimation algorithms using artificial spiking neural networks, collaborating with neuroscience, engineering, and computer science researchers, and developing functional models that can learn, store, and detect important information from datasets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and test detection and estimation algorithms using artificial spiking neural networks and novel neuromorphic computing architectures.
  • Collaborate with the neuroscience, engineering, and computer science researchers to develop functional models that can learn, store, and detect important information from datasets.
  • Contribute to the development of demonstrator applications and conduct research, publish, and disseminate research through publications, seminars, conference presentations, and public engagement.
Requirements:

The successful applicant should have (or shortly be obtaining) a PhD in electrical engineering or a closely related field. It is essential to have experience in estimation and control, machine learning, and mathematical optimization.
