Scientific Research Assistant

Fera Science is seeking a talented graduate to join our team in 2025 and contribute to our Food Safety & Biosecurity efforts.
As a graduate, you will begin your career as an assistant scientist, working closely with scientists and technical specialists to prepare and test samples, create reports, and contribute to vital commercial research projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering scientific excellence in accordance with protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Identifying and diagnosing pathogens and pests using various methods, including microscopy, ELISA, and PCR.
- Preparing, testing, and analyzing samples, documenting results.
- Exploring diagnostic techniques and preparing consumables.
- Data entry and validation.
- Performing general laboratory duties, such as cleaning and maintaining facilities and equipment.
- Collaborating with industry experts in a friendly and engaging environment.
- Assisting other teams in the plant business unit as required.
Requirements:
- Graduates with a keen interest in creating a more sustainable world.
- Qualifications in a science subject, preferably biology or environmental science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a laboratory setting is desirable, but not essential.
- A methodical approach to work and attention to detail are essential.
- The ability to follow written and verbal instructions efficiently in regulated environments.
- Practical IT experience, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to maintain clear written records.
- An excellent collaborator and communicator.
