About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Theatre Practitioner to join our team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our operating theatre team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient-focused care and contributing to the smooth running of our surgical services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for patients within the operating theatres
  • Assist in emergency situations and initiate emergency procedures in line with policy
  • Coordinate and carry out perioperative care with minimal supervision
  • Work as part of the theatre team to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures
  • Support and teach other members of the operating team
  • Lead a team in an operating theatre, utilising excellent communication skills to ensure efficiency and safe and effective care

Person Specification

We are looking for a Theatre Practitioner with the following skills and experience:

  • RGN/ODP qualification
  • Previous theatre experience, preferably in a similar role
  • Knowledge of relevant surgical procedures and experience of working within the speciality
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and patients
