Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Theatre Practitioner to join our team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our operating theatre team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient-focused care and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient-focused care in a fast-paced operating theatre environment
  • Assist in emergency situations and initiate emergency procedures in line with trust policies
  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for all patients, both inside and outside of the operating theatres
  • Coordinate and carry out perioperative care with minimal supervision, acting as a role model and working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Work as part of the theatre team to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures
  • Support and teach other members of the operating team
  • Lead a team in an operating theatre, utilising excellent communication skills to ensure efficiency while ensuring safe and effective care
  • Maximise the use of resources within your sphere of responsibility

Person Specification

Essential

  • RGN/ODP qualification

Desirable

  • Post-reg anaesthetic qualification (if RGN)
  • Teaching/mentorship qualification
  • Theatre qualification
  • Previous theatre experience
  • Knowledge of relevant surgical procedures
  • Experience of working within the speciality
  • Experience of caring for critically ill patients
