Holt House is a residential care home in Prestwich, providing a supportive environment for residents. We are seeking a Care and Support Worker to join our team.

As a Care and Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering person-centred care to our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to support residents in their daily lives, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to person-centred assessment planning, implementation, and review.
  • Deliver person-centred care, recognising the unique needs of residents with dementia.
  • Fulfil the role of key worker for allocated residents.
  • Support independence in daily living tasks.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Providing Care:

  • Share in person-centred assessment planning, implementation, and review.
  • Recognise, respect, and support the social, emotional, and identity needs of residents, and deliver suitable activities in response.
  • Remain alert and attentive to residents' needs throughout the shift, ensuring their needs are met at all times.
  • Enable interaction and communication, recognising the special needs of residents with dementia.
  • Ensure your actions support the care, protection, and well-being of residents.
  • Help address physical comfort needs of residents.
  • Support residents with personal care needs and manage continence.
  • Provide support for mobility and contribute to moving and handling residents.
  • Support residents to monitor their own health care needs, including supporting the use of medication and administering if trained and qualified.
  • Support residents in journeys to and from the home if required.
  • Engage residents in recreational and development activities, including those outside the home.
  • Provide food and drink to residents and assist them in eating and drinking if necessary.
  • Respond to residents' refreshment requests throughout the shift, in accordance with their individual care plans.
  • Support residents who are distressed, remaining respectful and caring at all times.
  • Support residents at the end of their life.

Recording:

  • Observe, monitor, and record the condition of residents, reporting as required.
  • Communicate with and complete records for residents, contributing to care plans.

General:

  • Support the health and safety of yourself and residents, complying with relevant legislation and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Participate in supervision and appraisal.
  • Share in a flexible rolling rota.
  • Develop your knowledge and practice through training provided.
  • Follow the guidance set out in the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England.
  • Work positively as a member of the team, ensuring effective and harmonious relationships with all staff members.
  • The post holder must comply with the Salvation Army's dress code.
  • Undertake other duties as deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running of operations and fulfil The Salvation Army's mission.

Job Challenges:

  • Maintaining a high level of care when residents may not be able to express themselves and may be resistant to care practices.
  • Remaining respectful when residents express distress reactions.
  • Attempting to maintain a good level of care when there are occasional staff shortages.

Requirements:

  • Experience in caring for someone in your personal life.
  • Experience working in Adult Social Care.
  • L2 Health and Social Care desirable but not essential.

Benefits:

Full-time shifts are 35 hours paid per week.

Early shift: 07:30am - 02:30pm.

Late shift: 02:30pm - 09:30pm.

Salary: From £11.25 per hour.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, plus some weekend work.
