About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to support the Highways Development Management Team by undertaking discrete technical tasks, investigations, communications, and consultations.

  1. Transport Policy Expertise: Consider, evaluate, and report on the transport implications of planning applications at pre-application and statutory response stages.
  2. Negotiation and Communication: Provide support in negotiating with developers and their consultants on contributions to transportation infrastructure and secure agreements through legal means.
  3. Development Intelligence: Contribute to local development management intelligence and production of spatial transport strategies.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the County Council at meetings with private sector partners, District Council Planning Departments, and appeals.
  5. Infrastructure Provision: Involve in shaping future highway infrastructure provision to support the Government's growth agenda.
  6. Quality Service Delivery: Work with diverse stakeholders to deliver a quality service.

About You:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or Transport Planning, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Highway Development Management procedures and practices in a Local Authority environment.
  • Experience of working effectively with people at all levels in an organisation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues displaying trust and respect to achieve results.
  • Clear, decisive, and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal.
