About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced nursing professional to join our team as the Head of Nursing Care at Barts Health NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the provision and delivery of pre-operative care to both cardiac and thoracic surgical patients. This will involve using the integrated care pathway (ICP) and supporting protocols as a framework for decision-making to safely prepare for surgery and improve the quality of patient care.

As a key member of the surgical team, the post holder will be expected to use advanced skills in cardiovascular care, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and possess highly developed organisational skills.

Main Duties:

  1. Lead on the provision and delivery of pre-operative care to both cardiac and thoracic surgical patients.
  2. Use the integrated care pathway (ICP) and supporting protocols as a framework for decision-making to safely prepare for surgery and improve the quality of patient care.
  3. Work closely with the surgical team to ensure the highest standards of patient care are met.
