Job Description:

A leading telecommunications company seeks a skilled Environmental Sustainability Consultant to join their team. Based in the UK, this 9-month contract offers a competitive daily rate of £350-£450 (outside IR35) with remote work opportunities and occasional travel to Warwick.

About the Role:

You will play a pivotal part in shaping the company's environmental and sustainability approach within their highways business unit. This involves collaborating with senior management to develop strategies that meet customer expectations, ISO14001 standards, and legal requirements.

  • Support the Head of QS&A in creating an environmental and sustainability framework aligned with business objectives, influencing decision-making at senior levels.
  • Implement risk management practices by establishing an environmental assurance regime, ensuring effective audit processes, and developing performance metrics.
  • Foster strong relationships with fellow environmental leads, contributing to Communities of Practice, and advising on improvement opportunities.
  • Protect the business by conducting regular reviews of key environmental aspects and impacts, establishing response plans, and evaluating climate change risks.
  • Collaborate with Bid, Design, and Operational Teams to integrate sustainable practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the Business Unit in identifying innovation opportunities for sustainable growth and customer-focused solutions.
  • Develop and improve the Environmental Management System according to industry best practice and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of the UK green agenda, sustainable practices, environmental legislation, and client requirements.
  • Advise on continual improvement opportunities and process development to support environmental objectives.
  • Define environmental competency levels and deliver training to support the Business Unit.
  • Liaise with customers on sustainability commitments and run the Sustainability Working Group.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Degree qualification in a related field (e.g., environmental management).
  • Full driving license.
  • Knowledge of environmental standards (desirable).
