About the Role
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Anaesthetist Consultant to join our team. As a Consultant Anaesthetist With an interest in Head and Neck Surgery, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic services to patients undergoing surgery.
Main Responsibilities
- To assist in the development of general anaesthesia services, ensuring they are delivered in a safe and timely manner.
- To take lead in decision-making about the suitability of high-risk patients for anaesthesia.
- To manage general anaesthetic services, ensuring they meet the needs of patients and the organisation.
- To develop and showcase general anaesthesia modules in line with the RCoA curriculum.
- To develop local services and practice using quality improvement projects.
- To provide anaesthetic services according to the Job Plan and take ongoing responsibility for patients under your care.
- To cooperate with other consultant anaesthetists to cover for annual, study, and professional leave.
- To deputise for absent colleagues as far as is practicable.
- To ensure adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in patient care to contact you when necessary.
- To actively engage in planning and delivering developments in the Anaesthesia, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine Directorate for the Trust.
- To develop and maintain special skills and interests appropriate to the agreed overall development of anaesthesia skills.
Person Specification
- CCT in anaesthesia (within 6 months of interview) with FRCA or equivalent and at least 6 months advanced training in Regional Anaesthesia or equivalent.
- MRCP or equivalent and ALS certification (or equivalent) are desirable.
- Comprehensive experience in anaesthesia for DGH-type surgical specialties is essential.
- Comprehensive, recent experience in anaesthesia relevant to job plan advanced airway/ regional blocks is desirable.
