Anaesthetist Consultant with Expertise in Obstetric Anaesthesia

About the Role
This is a 10 Programmed Activities (PA) post, including on-call duties and Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). The role can be extended to 12 PAs with mutual agreement. As a Consultant Anaesthetist at The Royal Wolverhampton Hospital, you will have the opportunity to work in a busy theatre environment, providing anaesthetic services for a variety of surgical disciplines.
Main Responsibilities
- Participate in the general on-call anaesthesia service, covering both New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital.
- Develop and lead regional anaesthesia services, ensuring they are delivered safely and timely.
- Manage regional anaesthesia services, taking lead in decision-making about high-risk patients.
- Develop and showcase regional anaesthesia modules in line with the RCoA curriculum.
- Provide anaesthetic services according to the Job Plan and take ongoing responsibility for patients under your care.
- Cooperate with other consultant anaesthetists to cover for annual, study, and professional leave.
- Deputise for absent colleagues and ensure adequate arrangements for hospital staff to contact you when necessary.
- Engage in planning and delivering developments in the Critical Care Services Directorate for the Trust.
- Develop and maintain special skills and interests appropriate to the agreed overall development of anaesthesia skills.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- CCT in anaesthesia (within 6 months of interview) and FRCA or equivalent.
- At least 6 months advanced training in Regional Anaesthesia or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications
- MRCP or equivalent.
- ALS certification (or equivalent).
Experience
- Comprehensive experience in anaesthesia for DGH-type surgical specialties.
- Comprehensive, recent experience in anaesthesia relevant to job plan advanced airway/ regional blocks.
