Director & Counsel - Consumer Litigation

We are seeking an experienced litigation lawyer to join our team as a Director & Counsel, Consumer Litigation. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in advising on consumer litigation matters, managing a portfolio of UK cases, and providing strategic support to our business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the conduct of consumer litigation, managing and advising stakeholders on the strategy, merits, and brand risks of various pre-action and issued claims.
- Provide legal advice and support to Amex businesses and management throughout the EMEA region on consumer and non-contentious issues.
- Manage a team of paralegals and junior lawyers, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of litigation matters.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external counsel, ensuring effective collaboration and management of fee budgets.
- Contribute to the development of litigation strategies, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other teams, including Compliance, S. 75 Team, FOS team, and regulatory team, to ensure a holistic approach to consumer litigation.
- Significant PQE Solicitor qualified in England & Wales with extensive experience in civil litigation, particularly in consumer litigation.
- Strong knowledge of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, PPI, and Financial Services litigation in a consumer credit context.
- Experience in managing or working with foreign lawyers, or cross-border litigation, is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to manage and adapt to different working and communication styles, ensuring open and constructive communication channels.
