Experienced Youth Worker Required

Career Teachers is seeking a dedicated and caring Youth Worker to join our team at a fantastic Specialist School in the Walthamstow area.

As a Behaviour Support/SEND Support Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher and therapy teams to ensure each child progresses towards their goals. You will gain experience working with mild to severe learning difficulties, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, Autism, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support young people with SEN in a Specialist School setting
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and therapy teams to develop individualized plans
  • Utilize verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to support students with varying abilities
  • Assist with daily living skills, personal care, and mobility
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements:
  • Experience supporting young people with SEN
  • Training in PECS, Makaton, manual handling, and hoisting (desired but not essential)
  • Strong understanding of SEN and ability to adapt to individual needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
