About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Engineer to join our Current Product Development Team in Cheltenham. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing award-winning products for our market-leading brands, including Mira Showers, Rada Controls, and KOHLER.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively lead change within existing product portfolios due to warranty, sustainability, supplier, or legislation changes.
  • Evaluate and action design changes, undertaking necessary prototyping and validation to identify risk areas and provide confidence in changes considering impact on product approvals.
  • Provide technical expertise to multiple departments, including manufacturing, purchasing, and approvals, to resolve line stoppages, manufacturing, and supplier product-related issues.
  • Work collaboratively with customer service to monitor field issues, analyze product returns, and take appropriate action to resolve with escalation where necessary.
  • Lead by example, using facts and data to inform decision-making, and identify patterns in user issues to implement solutions to root causes.
  • Provide constructive feedback to product and engineering teams about potential product enhancements or areas of improvement based on user feedback and your own insights.
  • Support the New Product Development process to ensure that lessons learned are shared.
  • Be actively engaged with New Product Development and Quality Engineering Specialist to ensure successful handover to production.
  • Own, identify, and evaluate Value Engineering opportunities within your area of responsibility to ensure optimal solutions are driven through.
  • Research relevant technical developments from various sources, including technical literature, suppliers, standards authorities, and approvals.
  • Drive continuous improvement and support wider business activities, early career programs, and stewardship.
About You

We are looking for a curious and tenacious individual with a drive to experiment and develop next-generation showering experiences. You will be a qualified engineer with a mechanical bias, having gained experience through either an apprenticeship or higher education.

You will have a proven history of at least 7 years' experience in a similar industry, with the ability to apply engineering theory and logic, balanced with a direct and creative approach to problem-solving.

You will be a solid communicator, able to translate technical concepts and data into easy-to-understand language, and have a working knowledge of FMEA's.

You will be naturally inquisitive, with an innate ability to identify and solve engineering problems, and demonstrate commercial aptitude in understanding feasibility, desirability, and viability while considering time, cost, and quality factors.

You will be highly self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and confident in managing multiple and often competing priorities.

Travel will be required to support business needs.

Desirable Requirements
  • 3D/2D CAD (Computer-Aided Design), preferably Creo Parametric.
  • Prior experience working in a CPD environment.
  • Experience with identifying collaboration and partnership opportunities.
  • Working appreciation of electronic and electrical systems.
