About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Diabetes Nurse Specialist to join our team at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. As a key member of our Paediatric Diabetes Service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and young people with diabetes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of patients with diabetes, working towards achieving relevant competencies and providing evidence-based care.
  • Collaborate with the Specialist Nurse and Consultant Team to develop and implement strategies for improving health outcomes for children and young people with diabetes.
  • Contribute to the overall management of the Paediatric Diabetes Service, working closely with the Band 7 CNS and Consultant Paediatrician.
  • Provide education and support to healthcare professionals and act as a point of contact for professionals working outside organisational boundaries.
  • Work across various settings, including office, outpatients, children's ward, and community settings.

Person Specification
  • Registered Child branch or Registered Sick Children's Nurse (RSCN), current active registration with NMC.
  • Working towards BSc Degree level in relevant field (i.e. child nursing/ long term conditions) or equivalent.
  • Willingness to undertake and attend relevant training, workshops and conferences as required.
  • Car owner with valid driving license.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
