Role Overview

TRADEBE is seeking a Radiation Safety Specialist to provide health physics monitoring support and maintain radiological safety. The successful candidate will work closely with operations teams and analytical projects to provide radiological advice and guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine health physics monitoring tasks to ensure statutory compliance with Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 and Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016.
  • Complete radiation and contamination surveys in accordance with planned survey schedules and for pre and post operations as required.
  • Provide health physics support to operational, analytical projects, maintenance, and project management teams.
  • Assist in the sentencing of out of scope and exempt wastes.
  • Monitor items out of controlled contamination areas.
  • Carry out air sampling, including the calculation of airborne contamination levels.
  • Set up and declassify radiological supervised and controlled areas.
  • Leak test radioactive sources in accordance with the planned schedule.
  • Environmental monitoring, including discharge sampling.
  • Maintain health physics records, including daily log and survey reports.
  • Candidate Requirements
    • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Radiation Protection or City and Guilds Stage 1 in Radiation Safety Practice.
    • Previous experience in active plant operations and monitoring techniques.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Computer literate.
    • Self-motivated.
    • Able to wear Respiratory Protective Equipment.
