Role Overview

TRADEBE is seeking a Health Physics Surveyor to provide health physics monitoring support to maintain radiological safety. This role involves working closely with operations teams and analytical projects to provide radiological advice and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine health physics monitoring tasks to ensure statutory compliance.
  • Complete radiation and contamination surveys in accordance with planned schedules.
  • Provide health physics support to operational, analytical projects, maintenance, and project management teams.
  • Support the Radioactive Disposals, Accountancy, and Transport (RDAT) team to ensure transport packages and vehicles meet regulations.
  • Provide additional assistance and advice to teams in support of task delivery.
  • Carry out air sampling and calculate airborne contamination levels.
  • Set up and declassify radiological supervised and controlled areas.
  • Monitor items out of controlled contamination areas.
  • Assist in the sentencing of out-of-scope and exempt wastes.
  • Decontaminate areas or items as required.
  • Leak test radioactive sources in accordance with the planned schedule.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring, including discharge sampling.
  • Maintain health physics records and provide training to staff.
  • Provide radiological support during emergency situations and exercises.
  • Manage the radiation monitoring instrumentation pool.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Radiation Protection or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in active plant operations and monitoring techniques.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Able to wear Respiratory Protective Equipment.
