About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Nursing Team Lead to join our dynamic team in the Children's Emergency Department. As a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, individualised care to patients and their families, assessing care needs, and developing, implementing, and evaluating care plans without supervision.

Main Responsibilities

  • To provide high-quality, effective, individualised care to all patients by assessing care needs and developing, implementing, and evaluating them without supervision.
  • To assist the matrons in supporting the nursing team in regard to paediatric nursing care.
  • Monitor standards of paediatric nursing care and take appropriate action to maintain and improve them.
  • To respond to patients and their relatives/carers concerns as they arise and take remedial action as required.
  • To provide children and carers/parents on-going referrals for support/treatments when necessary in the community.

Person Specification

  • Registered Children's Nurse with active registration.
  • Mentorship Qualification.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • EPALS/APLS certificate.
  • Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses/training in speciality.
  • Child protection qualification (or to complete in post).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Practice Educator.
  • Physical Assessment skills.
  • Nurse prescriber.
  • Minor injury qualification.
  • Minor illness qualification.
  • Emergency Nurse Practitioner qualification.
