Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CBT Therapist to join our team as a Band 7 CBT Pathway Lead for Bury CAMHS. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing the stepped care, high intensity CAMHS service for children and adolescents aged 5-18 years.

Main Duties of the Job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop the stepped care, high intensity CAMHS service for children and adolescents aged 5-18 years.
  • Manage CAMHS clinicians and provide supervision for team members undertaking assessment and a range of interventions.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic plans of care for children and adolescents with mental health needs.
  • Support the service to deliver training and consultation to other children's agencies.
  • Liaise with other agencies regarding the implementation of care plans and the management of risk for children and adolescents.
  • Promote and support mental health awareness in agencies supporting children and adolescents.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Specialist post-qualification training in psychological therapy with children and families to at least the equivalent of a postgraduate diploma level.
  • Accreditation with the appropriate accrediting bodies governing the specific modality (BABCP, IY).

Desirable:

  • Additional postgraduate qualifications relevant to child mental health.

Experience:

  • Substantial experience of working with children, adolescents, and families presenting with emotional and behavioural difficulties, including family relationship problems.
  • Managing a caseload and associated professional activities under supervision and working in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Experience of providing evidence-based psychological therapy to children and adolescents.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision and line management to team members.
  • Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner.

Knowledge:

  • Theoretical approach and understanding of child mental health and development.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and government policy relating to children's mental health.
  • Child protection knowledge and practice.
  • Understanding of principles and methods of clinical audit, research, and service evaluation.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in partnership with service users, carers, colleagues, and other agencies.
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, complex, technical, and sensitive information to children, young people, and families/carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Ability to work autonomously and to use initiative.
  • Organisational, time management, report writing, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to be self-reflective while working with service users, in own personal and professional development, and in supervision.
