Job Title: Consultant in Palliative Care

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join our team at North Bristol NHS Trust. This part-time, permanent role involves 7 sessions per week, providing exceptional care for palliative patients in the South West.

About the Role

The Palliative Care team operates in an advisory capacity across all specialties within the Trust, receiving over 1800 new referrals annually. As a Consultant in Palliative Care, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding palliative and end-of-life care, fostering strong partnerships across various hospital divisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive symptom control for patients with malignant and non-malignant diseases
  • Psychological and emotional support for patients and their families
  • End-of-life care management, including rapid discharge planning in collaboration with local hospices
  • Collaboration with CNSs and other clinical teams to ensure seamless patient care
  • Supervision of postgraduate doctors and medical students, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate education
  • Participation in clinical governance, audit projects, and research initiatives
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • Full GMC registration
  • CCT in Palliative Medicine with entry on the GMC Specialist Register
  • Demonstrable experience in UK hospital systems, palliative care management, and teaching
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
