Job Summary

Newton Place Surgery is seeking a highly skilled Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of diabetes and experience in running Diabetes clinics independently.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality specialist care to patients with diabetes, including initiating and supporting insulin management and other injectables. They will also promote self-care management to patients to prevent worsening of their condition and improve health outcomes.

The Diabetes Specialist Nurse will work autonomously in the provision of evidence-based diabetes care, liaise with administration staff regarding recall systems, and ensure the smooth running of clinics. They will also maintain accurate data and records in a timely fashion using EMIS and other software as applicable.

About the Role

The Diabetes Specialist Nurse will be a key member of our team, working closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients with diabetes. They will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality specialist care to patients with diabetes
  • Initiating and supporting insulin management and other injectables
  • Promoting self-care management to patients
  • Liaising with administration staff regarding recall systems
  • Maintaining accurate data and records

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Post-registration experience
  • Extensive knowledge of diabetes
  • Experience in running Diabetes clinics independently
  • Level 1 NMC Adult Registered Nurse qualification
  • Relevant post-registration qualification
  • Diabetes Diploma/Certificate
