About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Specialist to join our team at Focus Futures UK. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with care experience on their journey to independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the effective safeguarding of all children in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Implement effective approaches to improve outcomes for young people aligned to their needs as identified in their pathway plans.
  • Act as liaison between key support staff, offering advice, guidance, and signposting as required.
  • Lead the planning of shifts with other team members as needed.
  • Refer young people to appropriate services with your professional opinion, considering the most effective team/services.
  • Support the group of young people, providing 1:1 and weekly groupwork sessions.
  • Apply trauma-informed knowledge to your work with young people, ensuring this embodies the practice provided to our young people.
  • Be available for Rota duty to provide support to young people during the week and weekends, with shifts running 7am-11pm, 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and sleep-ins from 11pm-8am.
Requirements
  • Desire to be a team player who wants to achieve best possible outcomes for all our children.
  • Experience of working with children/young people in social care.
  • Knowledge and experience of child development and parenting capacity.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and how it impacts young people with care experience.
  • Willingness to work on a Rota basis evenings and weekends with some sleep-in duties.
  • Understanding of how anxiety and depression presents in young people.
  • Experience of applying a strengths-based approach to your work.
  • Child care qualification or a commitment to complete one.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in the field of adolescence.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.
