Maintenance Engineering Apprentice

First Base is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Stonehouse location. This is a full-time, permanent role with day shift hours and an early finish on Fridays.
We offer a highly competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including 25 days of holiday per year.
Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining all company plant and equipment in a good and safe working order, ensuring compliance with best practice and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer, the Senior Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is compliant with legal requirements and liaising with insurance inspectors as necessary.
- They will also be responsible for maintaining up-to-date registers and lists pertaining to equipment and plant, and ensuring that fire alarms and emergency lighting are tested at appropriate times.
- The Senior Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures, as well as environmental policies and procedures.
- They will also be responsible for investigating risks and issues with manufacturing challenges, and developing short-term and long-term plans to address these issues.
- The Senior Maintenance Engineer will work closely with the Logistics Manager and Chief Maintenance Engineer to plan and schedule repairs, and will be responsible for reporting on the completion of repairs.
- They will also be responsible for updating KPIs and reporting on these as agreed in BIC meetings.
- The Senior Maintenance Engineer will work with the Development Team to assist with development projects, such as oil systems and roller boxes.
- As a supervisor of staff, they will be responsible for ensuring that staff have a planned workload in place for day-to-day duties, and will conduct regular appraisals with staff.
Requirements
- The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with experience in press design and construction, fabrication, and electrical knowledge (18th Edition preferred).
- They will also have experience in maintenance engineering, with a strong understanding of maintenance records and PPM and breakdown maintenance reports.
